  • Module 1


    By the end of this module you should be able to:

    • Define different types of natural hazard that threaten coastal areas
    • Explain multi-hazard threats, their complexities and potential interactions
    • Appraise local and global frameworks related to disaster risk reduction.

  • Module 2


    By the end of this module you should be able to:

    • Explain Multi-hazard approach in disaster risk reduction
    • Understand the hazards in Asia region
    • Know the recent disasters in Asia
    • Understand volcanic vulnerability assessment
    • Understand seismic damage assessment

  • Module 3


    By the end of this module you should be able to:

    • Understand MHEWS in Sendai Framework
    • Understand the need for a MHEWS
    • Define Multi-hazard Early Warning Systems: A Checklist
    • Explain Multi-Hazard Early Warning System Components
    • Learn what the recent technologies are available for the MHEWS.
    • Explain how the MHEWS emerge, improve and become more and more sophisticated
    • Know how they operate as upstream and downstream flows
    • Determine the differences between MHEWS and technologies available now and in the future
    • To understand why in some cases the MHEWS do not work properly
    • To know what are the directions of the modernization and improvement of their effectiveness.

    By the end of this module you should be able to:

    • Briefly describe the concept of CBDRM. 
    • Explain the Importance of CBDRM approaches.
    • Describe the Steps in CBDRM process. 
    • Understand the basic concepts of CBDRMs their best practices along with the challenges faced
    • Understand how to link multi-hazards systems to CBDRM systems
